Nagato Festival (Ozu Shrine Nagato Dance)
It is reported that the origin was that the villagers rejoiced and danced when the shrine was washed away by the flooding of Lake Biwa during the time of Emperor Kenmei, and the shrine was celebrated by welcoming the spirit from inside Lake Biwa. In addition to dances being dedicated in front of the shrine hall at the precinct, a boy swings a wooden long sword, and lines up in a gorgeous manner while swinging a sasara, followed by a child wearing a flower hat. In 2024, the town of Yamaga dedicated a long sword dance.
