Fengxian Festival

Winter illumination, one of the largest in Nagano Prefecture, will be held at the state-run Alpine Azumi Park (Horikin-Hotaka district). In 2024, the theme of "traveling a light-shining locomotive," the locomotive, of course, represents flowers and butterflies in illumination. You can also enjoy events of each weekend and stamp rally in the park. Fireworks are also performed on the second and fourth Saturdays during the period. The Azumi people (Kaijin), who have had exchanges with the continent since ancient times and have flourished in Kitakyushu, pioneered the Azumino at the foot of the northern Alps in the distant old Shinshu, and conveyed the culture. The annual festival of Hotaka Shrine, which has been worshiped in rich nature, is said to be the death day of Azumi's hero, Azumi's hero, Azumi, who died in the Shiramura River in 663. Five large and small floats, known as the Mifune, which are set on Hotaka dolls from the town gather on the grounds of the shrine and are towed around the Kagura-den.
