Takahashi Matsuyama Dance
Bon dance boasts the largest scale in the prefecture. The dance began in the early Edo period and has a history and tradition of more than 370 years. There are three types of dances: "jidori", a loose movement that began with the townspeople, "jitsaku", which was transmitted to the samurai, and "yatosa", which began to be danced from the Showa era, and is now dominated by "jidori" and "yatosa". During the period, many young and old men and women dance all over the world. It should be noted that Matsuyama was the former name of Takahashi's feudal government.
