五月山動物園は、桜の名所として知られている池田市五月山公園内にある、昭和32年(1957)に開園した動物園。広さ4500平方mの園内には、オーストラリアの珍獣ウォンバットや話題のアルパカなど約60頭を飼育。園内にはタスマニア広場やふれあい動物園もあり、思う存分動物たちと触れ合うことができる。エサ(200円)はアルパカをはじめ、4種類の草食動物に与えることができる。

五月山公園内にあり、芝生のある「花のガーデン」が人気。温室にはランなどの華やかな植物や、サボテン、食虫植物など珍しい植物も展示されている。「緑のセンター」では楽しい講習会も実施している。

池田市の北西部、標高315mの五月山にある広大な自然公園。7つのハイキングコースやドライブウェイ、山頂付近の市民の森、日の丸展望台からは大阪平野が見渡せる。桜や紅葉の名所としても有名。

5世紀ごろ呉の国から渡来し、この地を訪れた呉織[くれはとり]を祀る神社。昼夜をとおして布を織り続け、機織・裁縫の技術を日本に伝えた遺徳をたたえ、仁徳天皇の勅令で建てられたという。「呉服」という言葉は、呉織にちなんで絹布類を指す語として日本に定着したといわれている。形見の御神鏡を納めた姫室が残されている。
