山梨の歴史と文化がまるわかり。「山梨の自然と人」を基本テーマとし、常設展示では実物資料や映像、ジオラマなどで甲斐の誕生、甲斐源氏と武田氏の隆盛、富士山信仰、甲府城下町のにぎわい、甲州財閥の活躍など、多彩なテーマをわかりやすく紹介。体験コーナーもあり、見て、さわって、楽しみながら歴史や文化を学べる。多種多様なイベントや様々なテーマの企画展、山梨を代表する資料を期間限定で展示するシンボル展なども開催。何度訪れても楽しめる。

桃の生産量日本一を誇る笛吹市。例年4月上旬頃には、約30万本といわれる桃の木が、なだらかな斜面に沿っていっせいにピンクの花を咲かせ、各所から桃源郷の名にふさわしい情景を楽しめる。笛吹市内の絶景ポイントを巡りながら散策する「日本一の桃源郷ウォーク」や、果樹園の中にはこの時期に花見用に開園する園もあり、各種のイベントも開催される。ひと足早い春を満喫しに行こう。

ペット同伴OKの喫茶店とドッグラン(屋内型)からなるスポット。地元のフルーツを使った季節のパフェ1000円～、日替わりケーキが600円。自家製生地・ソースを使ったピザ、パスタはスープとサラダが付いて1150円～。店内では犬の洋服、グッズを販売している。

周囲に桃の果樹園が広がるのどかな公園。園内には、芝生広場や季節の花々を観察できる散策路などがある。4月上旬には、一面に咲くピンクの桃の花を前景に甲府盆地や残雪の南アルプスの景色が楽しめる。子どもが遊べる遊具のほか、夏には水遊びができる人工の小川がある。また、中野島周辺の大きな池には鯉がいる。

笛吹川周辺の扇状地は、生産量日本一を誇る桃の栽培エリア。例年4月上旬頃から、なだらかな傾斜に沿って約30万本の桃が彩りを移しながらほころび、長く花見を楽しめる。市内で一番早く咲き始める標高の低い笛吹市石和町、春日居地区、標高600mからピンクの絨毯を敷き詰めたような光景が広がる一宮町御坂地区など、開花状況とともにそれぞれ魅力あるポイントを見つけて出かけよう。毎年桃の花が咲き誇る4月上旬には桃畑に囲まれたルートを歩ける「桃源郷を歩こう」が開催される。甲斐国分寺跡(史跡)、浅間神社摂社山宮神社本殿(重要文化財)、山梨岡神社本殿等の国文化財も見応えがある。

笛吹市芦川の源流域にすずらんの群生地がある。全国的にも非常に貴重な「日本すずらん」種が2.6ヘクタールの敷地に約200万本自生しており、昭和47年(1972)に山梨県の自然記念物に指定された。すずらんの花言葉は「きっと多幸になります」や「幸福が戻ってくる」などで、幸福を呼ぶ花として親しまれている。開花状況は例年5月中旬から咲き始め、6月上旬まで楽しむことができる。

"Mahora" is a word also mentioned in "Man'yōshū", meaning "a wonderful place." as its name suggests, it is attractive with its extensive facilities. A hot spring facility that stands in front of Totani Onsen along the Oyanagawa River that flows through Fujikawa-cho.
