History Museum of Niigata Prefecture

It is a full-fledged museum built on the hills of Sekihara, covering a total area of 10,000 square meters, and introduces the history and culture of Niigata Prefecture. The history exhibition "Ayumi of Niigata Prefecture" shows the history of Niigata Prefecture from the Paleolithic period to the near and modern times, and "Snow and Kurashi" recreates the Karagi-dori and shops in Takada, Joetsu City, one of the world's leading heavy snowfall areas. In the "Rice-making" exhibition room, we will focus our efforts on developing Nitta, and introduce the efforts of people who made Niigata Prefecture the nation's best rice spot, as well as rice-making tools. In addition, in the Jomon exhibition, exhibition corners such as "The World of the Jomon People" and "Exploring the Jomon Culture" are provided, and the historical environment is restored in full size.

Nagaoka Local Archives

It is built on the hill of Yukuyama Park in the eastern part of the city. The shape of the building is in the shape of a castle, and the observation deck on the fourth floor gives a full view of the city and the Echigo Plain. In the hall, the foundation of the spiritual culture of Nagaoka was laid from the early modern period to the modern period, and the achievements of the predecessors who were widely active.

Kanetsuo Ship Museum (Yoita, Nagaoka-shi)

The museum where you can see the life of Kanetsugu and the ship and their involvement with the Yohan. In addition to introducing Kanetsugu's life in a picture scroll style in an easy-to-understand manner, he also enrich the first Japanese brewer who trained in Germany, "The Life of Nakagawa Seibei" corner, and introduces his achievements from his upbringing on panels and DVDs. Snow Country Botanical Garden

A natural ecological observation garden built and maintained by citizen volunteers, cherishing the natural vegetation of satoyama, a low mountain in snowy country. In the garden, which makes use of the vast nature with a total area of about 350,000 square meters, various mountain grass and flower trees such as snow grass, katakuri, yayuri, yamahagi and hakabana can be observed throughout the year, mainly in areas where you can enjoy wet plants such as water vines. There are also facilities such as an observation deck, a permanent exhibition room of Yamanosusa, and a free holiday "Yamaboshi", and events such as "Firefly Evening" in June and spring and autumn bird exploration events are also held.

Yukuyama Park

Yukuyama is still known as "Ooyama" since the construction of the Aoshi Shrine in the first year of Tenmei (1781). It is also a famous place for cherry blossoms, and the cherry blossom festival is held from mid to late April when it is in full bloom. Nagaoka City Local Historical Museum on the 4th floor of the 3rd tier in the park (Price: 300 yen for adults, 200 yen for high school students, 150 yen for elementary and junior high school students, time: 9 o'clock to 17 o'clock, closed: Monday (the next day for holidays), the next day of public holidays (open for Saturday and Sunday), Telephone: 0258-35-0185) exhibits materials from the local people who were active in the early modern to modern times, such as Torazaburo Kobayashi, who laid the foundation for Nagaoka's education in "Rice Hundred Bales".

Forest of Forest Meisui Park

Duri's spring water, which was selected as the National Famous Water Hundred Elections. The whole is designated as a bird beast reserve, a special environmental conservation forest. Atre and Todo in the park also exhibit works by amateur artists in an exhibition hall with a theme of water. In addition, restaurants, campsites, and local vegetables are sold at the house.

Akiba Park Kenshin Park statue

Akiba Shrine is located at the top of the 127 stone steps of Jōanji Temple, and the surrounding area is Akiba Park. A statue with a rosary in the left hand, a warring fan in the right hand, and a sword in the waist. It sits against the background of the site of Tochio Castle, which was flagged by Kenshin. In addition to this, there is also a monument in the park.

Yopan Castle Site

Hongo Itajō, the seat of Kagetsuna, Nobutsuna and Kanetsugu, known as Naoe Miyo. Only about 2km away from it, Kanetsugu built Yoita Castle. We recommend a walk from the Yasaka Shrine climb to the Honmaru site, where there is a monument inscribed with "Shishō-shō".

The Ship's Monument at the site of the Nativity Palace

The ship was born as the daughter of Naoe Kagetsuna at the Hon-Yoita Castle Naoe Yashiki. The characters engraved on the monument erected in September 2008 are written by Masashi Hizaka, the original author of Tenchijin. It stands on the road adjacent to Kosai-ji Temple, about 2km from the Kanetsuo Ship Museum (Yoita History and Folklore Museum).

Firefly's Liokoshi Road

It has been selected as one of the Environment Agency's "100 hometown Ikimono no sato" in an area where efforts to protect fireflies are being made mainly by the Koshiji Firefly Association. From mid-June to early July, Genji fireflies and Heike fireflies are seen, and the "Koshiji Firefly Festival" is also held.
