福生市は面積の約3分の1をアメリカ軍横田基地が占める基地の街。その基地に沿って走る国道16号をベースサイドストリートと呼ぶ。ジーンズやアロハシャツなどの古着、アンティークや輸入雑貨、アーミーグッズなどの店が並び、独特の雰囲気の中での買い物が楽しい。国道から一歩入った裏通りの、昭和33年(1958)建築の米軍ハウスを利用したコミュニティスペース「福生アメリカンハウス」(住所：福生市福生2476-1福生G-14)では当時の雰囲気を再現。ギャラリースペースでは福生の歴史が垣間見られ、ベースサイドストリート公式グッズも販売。

令和6年(2024)6月9日(日)に「福室ほたる祭」が5年ぶりに復活。今回より、例年開催をしていたほたる通りを会場から除き、ほたる公園前から福祉センター先までのせせらぎ通りや福生市立福生第三中学校を祭り会場としている。ほたる公園では、地元の人が育てたゲンジボタルが飛び交う幻想的な光景をみることができる。また、ケータリングカーの出店やイベントなどの催し物も開催予定。

There is a "mini-aquarium" inside the Tama Kawakami River Regeneration Center, where you can see 10 different types of fish, including char, yamame, ayu, rainbow trout and tanago, which live in the Tama River, swimming in four tanks. It is a facility where you can learn the importance of water through the fish in the aquarium.

A souvenir shop about halfway between Omotesando, where pickled wild vegetables and sweets are lined up. The specialty is a maple-shaped tile cracker Takao senbei, with five sheets of 220 yen ~.

Known as the tofu of the sliding finger, it is made using the good groundwater of the Takao Mountains. Cotton tofu 140 yen. There are many people who eat Tofu 240 yen (sold separately at 20 yen) on the spot, and a table and a bench are set up beside the parking lot on the other side of the shop. Five Okaras donuts with a light mouthfeel of 350 yen are also well received.

A pickle specialty store located in Omotesando, Takao-san. The store always has more than 50 kinds of pickles. Takuan, Rakukyo, Cucumber, etc., which stuck to domestic raw materials, has a reputation for rustic flavors. Original Shichimi and Yuzu Tougara are well received.

標高599mの高尾山には、全部で7本の自然研究路が整備されている。最も一般的なのは、高尾山の中心である薬王院を経由し、山頂へ至る1号路(表参道コース)。この道は中腹までケーブルカーやリフトを利用することができ、途中までは車イスなどで散策することも可能。1号路以外はすべてハイキング用の登山道であり、つり橋のある4号路、びわ滝のある6号路など、それぞれ体力や興味に応じたコースを選ぶことができる。

高尾山～小仏城山～景信山を繋ぐ登山用縦走コース。ケーブルカー清滝駅を起点にして登山する方法と、京王バス小仏バス停を起点にして登山する方法がある。高尾からは山麓から高尾山山頂に登って尾根に出れば、尾根筋は広く緩やかな坂道が続く。途中の一丁平周辺は桜の名所。眺望のよい小仏城山から小仏峠を経由して標高727mの景信山へ。ケーブルカー清滝駅から高尾山山頂まで徒歩1時間40分。高尾山頂→徒歩1時間→小仏城山→徒歩1時間→景信山→徒歩1時間→バス停：小仏。

高尾山の麓に位置するユニークな美術館。「あたかもそこに本物が存在するが如く」をテーマに、中世ヨーロッパで流行しただまし絵をトリックアートで再現。人間の思い込みや先入観から起きる錯覚を利用したさまざまなトリックアートを楽しむことができる。高尾山・天狗さまの魔力を感じる「エイムズの部屋」、「万華鏡の巣窟」、「一本橋～底なしの谷～」、「ファラオの自然公園」など、まるで絵の中に入り込んでしまったかのような空間をカメラ片手に堪能できる。エジプト大使館協賛施設のミュージアムショップではエジプトのグッズも。
