2025年の万部おねりは、本堂大屋根葺き替え工事のため、仮本堂「瑞祥閣［ずいしょうかく］」前に特設舞台を設えて5月1日～5日まで毎日厳修される。法要のハイライトは14時から厳修される「伝供［てんぐ］」の儀式。冠、面、装束を身にまとった菩薩衆がご本尊へ5色の花を献花する様はさながら極楽世界そのもの。特設舞台で繰り広げられる絢爛豪華な極楽絵巻は一見の価値あり。また午前中は声明［しょうみょう］や雅楽など、我が国に伝わる伝統音楽のコンサートなどが行われる。雨天の時は瑞祥閣内で全ての行事を行う予定。

京都最古の「えんむすびの神さま」として知られ、5月5日に例大祭である地主祭りを行う。今から約1000年前の天禄元年（970）円融天皇が行幸された際、勅命により臨時祭を執り行ったのがその起源といわれている。神幸行列では雅楽を奏し、稚児、武者、白川女、巫女、神官らが三年坂、二年坂、茶わん坂周辺を雅に練り歩く。※2023年より社殿修復工事のため閉門になっており、仮殿にて神事のみ行い、神幸行列は行わない。閉門中のため境内には入れない。
