It is said to be the beginning of the Takaoka Mikakusan Festival, which was granted to the townspeople of Takaoka by the second head of the Kaga Maeda family, Toshinaga Maeda, on the occasion of building Takaoka Castle. Around the 4th century, when Empress Shingo caught a rainstorm in the Harima, he stopped at this shore and prayed to Sumiyoshi Shrine Daimyojin, and the wind and rain subsided. It is said that the Empress enshrined Sumiyoshi Daimyojin at the beginning of this shrine. During the Edo period, the Noh stage was erected by Tadamasa Ogasawara, Akashi Castle, and it is now designated as the Ichigata Folk Cultural Property. The Sumiyoshi Shrine Noh Rakukai will be held on the Noh stage on May 1, when the flower of Fujinoki, the sacred tree of Sumiyoshi Shrine, will be seen.

約3000平方mの回遊式庭園に咲き乱れるぼたんの美しさが見事。物産展も開催される。

雲南市桜まつり期間中には、ぼんぼりの点灯、ライトアップにより夜桜が楽しめる。三刀屋川河川敷では、ソメイヨシノに加え、約2週間後には珍しい緑の桜「御衣黄［ギョイコウ］」が咲き、2回の花見が楽しめる。

約4万球のチューリップを品種ごとに楽しめるよう植付けている。花が終わり次第閉園する予定。

新大阪駅から車で約30分の所に、遅咲きの桜で有名な勝尾寺がある。下界の桜が花を落とす頃、山の桜は見ごろを迎える。8万坪の境内に一歩足を踏み入れると、深い緑をバックに薄紅色した見事なシダレザクラが参拝者を迎えてくれる。数種類の桜と自然が織りなすコントラストはさながら一幅の絵画を見ているようだ。この寺はまた「勝ち運の寺」として知られ、勝ち運や成功を祈るとき「勝ちダルマ」を授かりに全国から日々参拝者が絶えない。境内には勝ち運成就したダルマが所狭しと奉納されている。画像提供：勝尾寺

後小松天皇が室町幕府3代将軍・足利義満の別荘である北山殿に招かれた道中、この地の桜が房ごと散る風情が珍しいと感じられた。船岡山の刑場に散った罪人の憐れさを今に伝える桜として知られる。咲き誇る桜よりも散り落ちる桜の風情を愛でる名所。敷かれた落花の姿が美しい。4月20日（日）はイベントが行われる。観覧無料。
