About 180 cherry trees continue on both banks of the Suga River (Lower River), which flows within the Suigaoka Park. In addition, about 300 cherry trees also continue on both banks of the Shakado River, and night cherry blossoms can also be enjoyed by lighting up.

大猷院殿とは後光明天皇より賜った家光公の諡号（おくりな）。家光公は、慶安4年（1651）4月20日に48歳で遷化され、その後1年2カ月という短期工事で、承応2年（1653）4月4日に現在の大猷院廟が完成した。法要は、輪王寺門跡お導師のもと、七条袈裟に威儀を正した一山僧侶が総出仕で、密教の胎蔵界曼茶羅供法要を執り行う。法要中には、さまざまな声明が唱えられる。※この行事は徳川ゆかりの関係者で執り行う法要のため、一般の参列は不可。 画像提供：日光山輪王寺

樹齢500年を超えるエドヒガンの古木「古典桜」が6本点在し、どれも山形県指定天然記念物に指定されている。まつり期間中、釜の越農村公園では、地元銘菓や地酒、漬物、かいもち等の売店販売を行う。

Together with "Shiraishi Ishikawa Tsutsumi Ichinichi Senbon Sakura", which has been over 100 years of tree planting, it has been selected as "100 Sakura Famous Places", and a total of about 2500 cherry blossoms are in bloom. About 1000 Yoshino cherry trees bloom in the historic park at the site of the Honjo Castle. In the Honjo park, other than cherry blossoms, about 5000 strains of colorful azaleas color the whole mountain.

The "Ogawara Cherry Blossom Festival" is held during the flowering period of the town's symbol "Shiraishi Ishikawa Tsutsumi Ichinichi Senbon Cherry Blossoms". You can slowly stroll under 1200 "cherry blossom tunnels" and feel the spring in your own style. The contrast between the remaining snow-covered Zao Renpall and the clear stream of Shiraishi River, and the cherry blossoms in full bloom, which can be seen from the "Niragami Weir", which is located at the halfway point between JR Ōgawara and Funaoka stations. During the cherry blossom festival, the cherry blossom lights up at night and you can enjoy a fantastic atmosphere different from the daytime. During the cherry blossom festival period, people who enjoy the cherry blossoms from all over the country visit. * As of January 2025, the Nirasin Weir cannot be approached near the area due to renovation work.

It will be the 75th in 2025, attracting over 20 horses from all parts of Tohoku. The horse is unloaded and runs through a course of about 120m with two obstacles. The human horses become one and perform the competition while rolling up the dust. The opening ceremony and safety prayer festival will be held from 8:30, and the competition will start at 9 o'clock.
