What is Wakayama Ponch?
It is a local sweet that utilizes local fruits to promote "Ume", which Wakayama Prefecture boasts, and many fruits throughout the country.
The Wakayama punch is one that meets all the requirements listed in the following (1) to (3), and is produced, provided or manufactured at the Wakapon store registered in Wakayama Prefecture.
(1) The sweet-boiled or pickled syrup of the prefecture's Ume is used as an ingredient.
(2) One or more prefectural fruits are used as ingredients.
(3) The use of prefecture-produced Ume and fruit must be clearly specified in the menu or product, and the use of the product is made so that consumers can recognize the use.
