Mikata Five Lakes are the five lakes that span Mihama-cho and Wakasa-cho, Fukui Prefecture: Mikata Lake, Lake Suigetsu, Lake Kugoko, and Lake Hyuga. It is a group of natural-rich lakes registered in the Ramsar site, and the largest of the five lakes, Suigetsu Lake [Suigetsuko] and the smallest Sugako Lake [Sugako] can be enjoyed from the lake. Set sail with two or more adults, and small dogs can board together. It takes about 40 minutes to and from Seamount [Umiyama] Pier. The recommended seat of a catamaran-style ship with the image of a steamboat is an open deck on the second floor where you can feel the refreshing breeze of the lake. The first floor is air-conditioned.

The kayak tour will be held from March to the end of November, hosted by Mr. Tanabe, the owner of the Lake Kamiko on the shores of Lake Mizuketsu, with Wakasa Bay and Mikata Five Lakes in the main field.

A facility where you can observe the nature of Lake Mikata, one of the leading wild bird spots on the Sea of Japan side, taking advantage of the excellent view facing the shores of Lake Mikata. Consulting staff are present and provide referrals for research on the Satoyama-ri Sea Lake in Fukui Prefecture, as well as reception for consultations on living things. There is also an introduction corner for books about Satoyama-ri Sea Lake, and a craft experience corner using pine cones and acorns (groups need to make a reservation), so you can use it easily. Events to enjoy nature and culture based on the activities of the people of Satoyama-ri Sea Lake are also planned every season.
