Owakudani, which was born by volcanic activity and still has a blowout, is a view spot that represents Hakone. You can see the majestic natural landscape. Look down from the ropeway, stroll around the Owakuya Station square, and enjoy dynamic views up close.
Feel the breath of the earth in the rising blowout! Owakudani full of majestic nature

Owakudani is a bomb crater (Bakuretsukako) formed by the collapse of Kamiyama (Kamiyama) due to an eruption about 3,000 years ago. It is one of the leading view spots in Hakone where you can enjoy a dynamic landscape, such as mountain skin where trees have died and exfoliated, and the plumes rising from here and there. Despite being a desolate land, you should be able to feel the breath of the earth in the smell of sulfur standing around and the water vapor that constantly spews.
There are various ways to enjoy Owakudani. You can enjoy the scenery from the Lopeway and the observation area "Chikyu-no-valley" opened at Owakudani Station, as well as stroll around the area, and walk on the nature research road to the vicinity of the smoke area (reservation required). The point is that you can enjoy the view of Mt. Fuji on a good day. Don't forget to taste the famous black eggs of Owakuya using the hot springs and steam of Owakuya.

A thrill about 130m above the ground overlooking Owakudani! Aerial walk to go by ropeway

To access Owakudani, there is a way to use a car, a bus, or a ropeway, but the recommendation is a ropeway. Since you can see Owakudani in the panorama from the sky, you can enjoy a more dynamic view. The male figure of the valley floor or Mount Fuji overlooking from the ropeway is exceptional. Furthermore, the height of the highest point from the ground is about 130m above the ground, so the thrill is perfect. I want to enjoy a walk in the air with a superb view.
The ropeway has four stations: Togendai Station, Ubako Station, Owakudani Station, and Sounzan Station. The ropeways operate at 1 minute intervals, with each leg taking about 10 minutes. Since it is possible to get off on the way, it is also a point that you can do sightseeing not only at Owakudani, but at each station. If it is Tōgendai Station, take a pirate boat from Tōgendai Port (Tōgen Daikō), which is directly connected to the station. At Ubako Station, Ubako Onsen is one of the Hakone 17-toshi. At Hayamunyama Station, there are many attractions such as cumo Hakone where you can enjoy the scenery while soaking in the foot baths.

Parking is recommended if you go by car! Easy access by car & ropeway

On weekends and during the holiday season, there is a lot of traffic around Owakudani, so if you go out by car, it is recommended to change to the ropeway on the way. There are parking lots available at both the Togendai Station, Ubako Station and Hayamunzan Station, so you can change smoothly. Among them, Ubako Station parking is recommended. You can park about 90 cars, and the parking fee is free. From the nearest Ubako Station, you can reach Owakudani Station by ropeway in just one stop, about 10 minutes. There is "Ubako no Onsen Reijo" about a five-minute walk from Ubako Station, so it is recommended to experience the day-trip Yuji of Ubako Onsen. In addition, in front of Ubako Station, exhibits of successive gondoliers and their upbringing from the opening of the Hakone Ropeway to the present day.

Easy on your phone! Enjoy a smooth journey with an e-ticket

An e-ticket "LINKTIVITY" that makes Hakone sightseeing convenient, such as the purchase of a ticket for the Hakone Ropeway, appears. If you purchase in advance, an e-ticket will be issued on the site, and you will be able to ride using your smartphone. There is no need to buy at the window or redeem tickets, so the point is to save time and be able to get on and off smoothly. It is a service that I would like to use when planning a trip.
