Why is the beer industry thriving in Kanagawa?
Did you know that craft beer production is thriving in Kanagawa Prefecture? Yokohama, where beer brewing was first carried out continuously as a full-scale industry in Japan, is said to be the birthplace of the beer industry. Sankt Gallen, a long-established brewery that has led the Japanese craft beer industry, also originated in Atsugi City. It's also fun to discover your favorite craft beer while traveling.
One of Kanagawa's defining features is the large number of craft beers named after places such as Yokohama, Kamakura, Shonan, and Hakone. Furthermore, there are many beer pubs (brewpubs) with attached breweries throughout the prefecture, where you can enjoy freshly brewed beer to your heart's content while feeling the passion of the brewers.
