Event Overview

On the first day, the Heron Dance (Sagi no Mai) is dedicated at Yasaka Shrine, followed by the transfer of the mikoshi (portable shrine) to the otabisho (temporary resting place). On the final day (27th), a procession (Gokankō) is held to return the deity from the otabisho back to Yasaka Shrine.

Yuda Onsen White Fox Festival

A festival where everyone who visited can become a fox, after the white fox legend who found a hot spring. With ears and tail, he turns into a white fox with a fox mask. The workshop to wet the color of the white fox is also popular. The stage of singing, dancing and magic is also gorgeous. On Saturday night, the procession of a large number of foxes with torches, strictly working on the prefectural road to visit the palace, is fantastic and spectacular. A pedestrian mall is also held on Sunday, and various events are planned.

The 40th Restoration and Strait Walk

A walk rally that starts the Tōgōan (Shinsaku Takasugi's Graveyard) where the Kihei Corps main team was located, and follows about 30km to JR Shimonoseki Station (about 28km to Moji Port) while touring the historic sites of the Restoration. The birthplace of the Meiji Restoration, the battle of the castle town of Chōfu and the battle of Genpei Danoura, the stage of the Ma-Seki War, various events are held at the sekisho in various places. On the day, the temporary bus service runs from "Aluku Kozuki", a 5-minute walk from JR Kozuki Station. Application is only on the official website of the 40th Restoration and Strait Walk. Opening ceremony from 8:30. No participation reception on the day.

The 52nd Tabase Cherry Blossom Festival

On the left bank of the Tabuse River, which runs through the central part of the town, there are about 350 cherry trees lined with cherry trees. Various events are held around the time when the cherry blossoms bloom. The event is held from 10 o'clock.

Silkworm Festival

A festival of silkworms. At 11 o'clock, a ritual is held. After the ritual, a demonstration of thread tsumugi and body weaving is held. There is entertainment of silkworm confectionery and sencha as well as seasonal porridge.
