Event Overview

On the first day, the Heron Dance (Sagi no Mai) is dedicated at Yasaka Shrine, followed by the transfer of the mikoshi (portable shrine) to the otabisho (temporary resting place). On the final day (27th), a procession (Gokankō) is held to return the deity from the otabisho back to Yasaka Shrine.

Cherry Blossom Festival

The weeping zakura (weeping cherry tree) on both sides of the Tokusa Hachimatomiya approach was planted for the first time in the year of Bunsei 8 (1825), and later it is known as the famous cherry tree in the prefecture, with the addition of the new tree and the festival, where the sale of specialty products is held.

Yuda Onsen White Fox Festival

A festival where everyone who visited can become a fox, after the white fox legend who found a hot spring. With ears and tail, he turns into a white fox with a fox mask. The workshop to wet the color of the white fox is also popular. The stage of singing, dancing and magic is also gorgeous. On Saturday night, the procession of a large number of foxes with torches, strictly working on the prefectural road to visit the palace, is fantastic and spectacular. A pedestrian mall is also held on Sunday, and various events are planned.

Spring festival

Imemiya Shrine is an old shrine located in the center of the town of Chōfu, and has been known locally as "Ninomiya-san". The government office of Nagato is also in this position, and it can be said that the town of Chofu was shaped from here. After the main shrine festival, there is a Kamikotami by about 60 of his children, and rice cakes are performed at each Gyodo.

Plum Festival

There are about 16 species of 1100 plum trees in the Hofu Tenma-gong: "plum is a symbol of Tenjin-sama"; and a "plum festival" is held on a spring day when full precincts are filled with blooming and proud plump scents.
