Daisho Park

A zoo on the lush Yagiyama plateau. In the park, there are many different types of creatures, such as large animal ponies, Japanese wild boars, porcupines, rabbits and other animals, as well as birds such as chilly flamingos and ducks, as well as reptiles. You can feel creatures familiar by feeding experiences and contact with chicks. There are campsites and barbecue corners that make use of the natural terrain, and you can experience makimaki bread-yaki. In summer, you can also enjoy playing in the water in the artificial stream. The unique animals are transported by car to the venue and mobile zoo is held.

It was built in the late Meiji 30 s as the main residence of Ito Denemon, who was called the "coal mine king of Chikuho". It is a modern Japanese-style building that was added to the building during the Taisho period and early Showa period, and is also the place of Yukari where the poet Yanagihara Shiren spent about ten years as the wife of Denemon. Delicate and graceful decorations can be seen throughout the Japanese-Western-style harmonious mansion, which can be enjoyed along with a vast excursion garden with ponds. The building is designated as a National Designated Important Cultural Property, and the garden is designated as a national famous. You can also see the events of "Izuka chicks festival" and "Dango no Kajaku", which are the main venues.

Yagiyama Highlands is a plateau that spreads out at the foot of Mount Ryuoh, popular for hiking, located to the west of the city of Iizuka. It is a lush plateau within the Dazaifu Prefectural Nature Park, and the area of the flower and tree garden that spreads across this plateau is approximately 60,000 square meters, vast in size. The beginning of this area dates back to the flower and tree planting projects in 1982 and 1983, and the donations collected in 1994, which led to the planting of 20,454 various flowering trees. Even now, more than 6,000 azaleas, along with about 800 plum trees, hydrangeas, forsythias, cherry blossoms, and camellias, bloom in each season, delighting the eyes of visitors.
