Meiji 33 (1900) A museum that presents the history and culture of the island beginning with the reclamation of Tamaki Hanemon, a great merchant on Hachijo Island. Material on the sugar company domination era, among others, is a must. The goods vouchers and the Tōjima Approved Certificate, which were issued by the sugar company in lieu of money, convey the management structure at the time. On the side of the center, a sugar train, which has been active in carrying sugar cane and transporting islanders supplies, is also displayed for preservation.

An observation deck at an altitude of 56m near the port of Kameike. Far north, you can see the island of Hokudaitō. Although the island is about 21km around it, the landscape from the observation deck looks like a large area of arable land for sugarcane and potatoes is due to the large size of the area. At night, Japan's largest bat, the giant flying fox, which is a natural monument of the country, also flies around. Every year on September 22 and 23, the island's best festival, the Toyonen Festival, is held, and Edo Sumo and Okinawa Kakuriki [Kakuriki] are dedicated.
