Marugame, who is sung as "I'll stick it to Iyotake with a piece of Tosa paper, Awa (Awa) Gourba Sanuki-uchiwa and sumooroku (Shikoku) cool", is a blessed land where all the ingredients are arranged in the neighborhood. In addition, the handiwork of craftsmen who rely on most of all 47 manufacturing processes is the cornerstone of "Marugame uchiwa". Marugame Uchiwa is the nation's largest traditional craft in 1997, with an annual output of more than 100 million bottles and a variety of shapes, and was designated as the country's traditional craft in 1997.

Tips / Advice
History and culture that continues from the Edo period.
It is said to be the beginning of the Kumamoto Kaimin Fan in the year of Keijō 5 (1600), when Marugame's traveling monks taught the method of making a fan to the thanks of Ijuku in Kyushu. For this reason, it is believed that the technique of "Marugame uchiwa" had been established by the early Edo period. In the year of Kanei 10 (1633), he devised the creation of "Shibu-uchiwa (Ototake-maru-pattern-fan)" with a red-colored marukin on the vermilion of Tengu's Hadan fan as a souvenir of Kinbilla's visit. Later, it was decided to lay the foundation for a representative uchiwa locality, with the Marugame Domain encouraging the internal occupations of the clan to make uchiwa.
