The 41st Nagao Iris Festival

It is held on June 1 every year as Spring City, which concludes the last of the prefecture. During the transfer of the twenty-four juniondō, which had been located in Shōki, to the Hōen-ji temple in the middle of the Meiji era, the city there also began to take place. It was a farm tools city before rice planting, but now it is filled with 80 or so street stalls selling shaved ice, wata confectionery, takoyaki and squid-yaki, and so on, and it is crowded from around noon until just after 21 o'clock.

A ritual to pray for the calming of epidemics that were once common during the cherry blossom season, known as the Epidemic God Suppression Ceremony. This ancient ceremony likens various harmful epidemics to cherry blossoms, wishing to capture their petals. A procession of shrine officials, dancers, Hanazakari (flower blooming old man), representatives, and worshippers walks under the cherry blossom trees of Kamekaku Park to the festival site (in good weather). On the day of the spring equinox, Yamabushi fires a hooma at the precinct. When the Hiroho Daishi went around Shikoku, he took the cane he had held all the time to the Great Recon-ji Temple, and established this place as the ending hall of the sacred place of Shikoku Eighty-eight from 12:30 to 15:00.
