The Mogami River, which flows north-south through Yamagata Prefecture, is a river that has carried industry and culture since ancient times. You can enjoy the scenery of the four seasons of the Mogami Gorge, its middle stream and landscape. The regular route is about 12km from Koguchi Port (Tozawa Domain Funabansho) to Kusanagi Port (Kawanno Station Mogami Gorge Kusanagi) for about one hour. There are many attractions to see, such as the rapids of Yanagimaki at a depth of 15m, which was said to be a difficult place, Gagu Falls, which is said to have washed the horse's kutsuwa when Gensuke escaped to Hiraizumi, and 48 waterfalls, large and small. One of the "100 waterfalls of Japan", the 124m high Shiraito Falls is a masterpiece. You can't miss the boat-san's Mogamigawa Funa because it pops up to the English version of Tomari Tozawa, Korean.

An embarkation point facility that stands at the Koguchi port of the "Mogamikyo Basho Line sightseeing boat down" operated by Mogamikyo Basho Line Tourism Co., Ltd. There is a reception desk, as well as a souvenir shop and a restaurant. The souvenir shop sells liquor items such as the limited-sale shochu "Mogami Kawakudari", as well as the "Higashiyama-yaki", a pottery from the city of Shinjo that has continued since the Edo period. At the restaurant "Basho-an", we recommend Araiso ramen with plenty of seafood limited to 10 meals a day, and countryside soba with the pungency of radish. In the handmade soba experience workshop on the premises, you can enjoy making handmade soba using fragrant buckwheat flour (reservation required at least 3 days in advance).

This cedar, which stands near Mogami Gorge, has multiple branches developing like an octopus foot from a trunk divided in two. It is more than 500 years old, and 11m is one of the largest in Japan.
