Shirogoya Maruko is a cozy gathering place for castle enthusiasts, located right next to Maruoka Castle.

For lively conversations, enjoy a cup of coffee. For peaceful moments alone with a book in hand, savor a cup of tea. May your precious time be filled with richness. With a reservation, you can also enjoy freshly made oroshi soba noodles prepared by hand using buckwheat flour from Maruoka.

Books

At Shirogoya Maruko, we have a collection of around 600 books and materials related to castles, made possible thanks to the generous support received through crowdfunding. All books are available for you to browse freely. Enjoy a cup of coffee or tea with a book in hand, and feel free to engage in deep conversations about castles and history.

Shirahama Beach

As the name suggests, the beach boasts a white sandy beach, which is popular among young people and families.

Seongshan Park

A small, projecting in the center of the coast of Takahama-cho, a park that maintained the entire peninsula. Where Takahama Castle was built during the Muromachi period, the site of the Honmaru remains. Eight natural caves, known as Hachinana no Kishatsu, are scattered throughout the park. Among them, there is a famous mirror cave that is large enough to allow a small boat to pass through, and there is a promenade where you can see the view of the cave and rock formations from the entrance of the park.

Potoku Temple

The main temple houses a standing statue of a nationally designated important cultural property wooden Amitabha Buddha. The garden, which is designated as a national masterpiece, has beautiful flowers and azaleas of the temple in the spring and a maple tree chosen as one of the "Hundred of Autumn Leaves in Japan" in the autumn.
