Nozaki Island

Nozaki Island at the northern end of the Gōjima Islands is an island that belonged to the Hirado Domain during the Edo period. A hundred or so people from the open sea area of Omura Domain were settled in the late Edo period, but many of them were hidden Christians. The faith continued secretly in two settlements in the central part of the island, in the central part of the island, and in the southern part of Funamori, and in the third year of the first year (1866), the year after the "Discoveries", the devotees of the nobu visited the Oura Cathedral. Residents of both settlements were escorted to Hirado and tortured. Although depopulation continued after the war and the island was now an uninhabited island, it is possible to catch a glimpse of the life of the hidden Christians at the site of the Nosakumori settlement and the former Nosakumori church.
