Former site of Senkuji Temple

Founded in Meiji 6 (1873), this sake brewery is the producer of Kyushu's representative sake, Nishi no Seki. Most of the brewery retains the architecture from the early Taisho era and, along with its chimney, has been designated as a registered tangible cultural property of the country. The attached gallery offers tastings and shopping. The sake named "Tōzai," which shares the same name as the gallery, can only be purchased here (720 milliliters for 2050 yen).

The popular "Tori Ten Musu Zaru" (1200 yen), which features freshly fried hot chicken tempura wrapped in rice balls, is a specialty of the Futago Kawahara-za, along with zaru soba. Enjoy flavorful soba made with famous water drawn from 40 meters underground, kneaded and boiled to perfection.

Roadside station Kunimi stands at a nice view point along National Route 213, which runs on the coastline at the tip of the Kunitachi Peninsula, close to Hime-jima, known for its fox dance, and beyond the sea, with a sweeping view of Yamaguchi Prefecture. It is located at the entrance of the Kaihin Park, which has a soccer field, and is adjacent to the Ongenzaki Furusato Nature Park and the Kunimi Auto Campground. The direct sales office is lined with fresh vegetables and melons, fruits such as Wenzhou mandarin oranges, and local specialties such as seafood. I would like to taste "Takomeshi Zen" at "Restaurant Mihama" in the station. Taka komeshi-zen, which uses octopus from the constricted national peninsula, is a specialty dish that is steeped in the taste of local octopus.
