Kuroshima Observation Deck

The observation deck is located in the center of the island, where you can see the sea and the surrounding islands at the end of the idyllic ranch. There is also a pavilion, which is just right for a break to walk around the island.

Puzmari

It is a small, artificial hill stacked with Ryukyu limestone, located behind the Kuroshima Visitor Center at the site of the former Bansho. Puzumari refers to a beacon that was used for maritime surveillance during the Ryukyu dynasty, and is said to have sent a signal to Iriomote and Ishigaki Island by raising a wolf fire when a warship was found by the farsigher (lookout). It is also called a distant tower and Takamui (Takamori). Climbing is prohibited because limestone is aging and your feet are dangerous. It has been designated a National Historic Site.

Black Island

An island of flat raised reefs in the shape of a heart; a cattle grazing area mostly outside of the settlement, where black cows, more than 10 times the population, are lounging pasture; the beach to the west is a spawning point for sea turtles; there are also sea turtle and coral research facilities.

Notch and Mushroom Rocks

The roots of the shore of the raised coral reef are notched by the force of the waves and the oversea life, which has been scraped over the years. The one whose notch is not a land-continuous cliff, but a distant rock is referred to as a mushroom rock because of its appearance. There are many mushroom rocks on the coast of Kuroshima, creating a mysterious landscape. The more quiet and distant the sea the waves, the more clean the mushroom-like it becomes because of the uniform rock scraping, it said. The rock can be seen floating in the sea depending on the condition of the tide, and some of the mushroom rocks have fallen because they are too thin.

Nishinohama

Near the port of Kuroshima, Nishinohama is a wide coast with beautiful white sand beaches arcing for about 2km, and is also known as the site of the spawning of sea turtles from April to September. You can see the island of Iriomote and Shinshiro across the emerald green sea, and the feeling of being in Yaeyama is also enhanced. No swimming.

Nakamoto Coast

Floating between Ishigaki Island and Iriomote Island, Kuroshima is a small island with a circumference of about 12km. Nakamoto Coast, on the west side of the island, is a 30-minute walk from the port of Kuroshima and a 10-minute rental cycle coast. On the shore where coral reefs spread in the sea in front of the beach. At low tide, coral reefs come out to the sea surface, and in shallow water near the beach, you can observe the sea. Even if you put on underwater goggles and just put your face in the sea and look at it, you can enjoy the underwater scenery as if you were looking inside the dragon castle. Swimming is not recommended because it is a place where rip currents occur.

I'm a mockery.

A concession stand in the harbor shelter; a selection of souvenir staple T-shirts and hand towels, as well as a selection of the island's specialty products; and handmade items that can only be obtained on Obama Island; and popular natural mozuku and ice cream from Obama Island.

It is a shop of daily items to come to the island and come in handy. Here, in addition to luxury items such as batteries, flip-flops, sweets, drinks, cigarettes, and awamori, as well as confectionery bread, prepared foods, and cup noodles are also available, so it is convenient when you are hungry. Brown sugar 120 yen ~ and Okinawan specialty sweets can also be a souvenir. Also nearby is Kinjo Shoten (telephone: 0980-85-3244), which is attached to the gas station.

Kohama Transportation

Kohama transportation is convenient for sightseeing on the island. Tour the location of the TV drama "Chura-san" by bus with the guidance of the driver and guide full of personality. Such as picking up sango at the sandy beach where Iriomote Island is in front of you, and the observation deck of Otake [Ufudaki], the only mountain on the island with an altitude of 99m, with a full view of the islands of the Yaeyama Islands.
