Hot Spring Township Yamaga Acorn Village

Road Station Shikita Oguri Township

Yamaga City Museum

It exhibits materials from the Paleolithic period to the early modern era, mainly artifacts excavated from the Fōhota Higashi-Bharui-Iseki (historical site) and the Yuno-no-Machi-no-Machi-no-Ku-no-Ku. There are also open-air exhibition facilities on the site, including the relocated and restored Megane Bridge, a kaya-roofed private house built in Tenpo 11 (1840), and an "ancient forest" with full-scale replicas of decorative burial murals, which are found in the Kikuchi River basin. If you ask when you enter the building, you can guide you to the 1500-year-old decorative burial mound, Chibusan burial mound (historical site) (twice a day at 10 o'clock and 14 o'clock). There is also the Obusan Kofun and the Nabeda Yokoana group (both historic sites) nearby. It takes 40 minutes.

Kumamoto Prefectural Decorative Museum

About 200, about 30% of the ornamental burial mounds, which are said to have about 700 nationwide, are concentrated in Kumamoto Prefecture. The Kumamoto Prefectural Decorative Museum is a museum dedicated to decorative tombs that provides information about antiquities through displays and footage of precision replicas of decorative tombs and excavated artifacts. The building, which was built adjacent to the Iwabara Kofun mound, including one of the largest in the prefecture, was designed by architect Tadao Ando, and the shape of the house imitates the front and back mound, giving the image of a modern burial mound. In principle, on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, you can experience making magatama and taishu, and you can also have a regular experience class in ancient times. There is also a restaurant outdoors at Haniwa Park and the nearby Kaohou Museum.

History Park Marichi Castle

Marichi Castle, which the Yamato administration built as a military base defending Dazaifu about 1,300 years ago. This is a vast historical park that has been restored and maintained while unraveling its history and romantics. From the Haizuka Observation Center, you can see the majestic scenery in full view, and on a day when the weather is nice, you can also see Yunsen Fukendake in Nagasaki Prefecture. It was designated as a National Historic Site in 2004. There is also commentary by volunteers (if it is more than an hour, an appointment is required at least two weeks before the tour date).

Chibsan tumulus · of San tumulus

The Kikuchi River basin flowing in the southern part of Yamaga City has flourished since ancient times. It is dotted with burial mounds and ruins from the 6th to 7th centuries. The Chibusan Kofun mound, a designated national historic site, and the Obusan Kofun mound, about 200m away, are located between the center of Yamaga and Hirayama Hot Spring Township, and the Chibusan Kofun mound can also be visited internally by applying to the Yamaga City Museum.

Grow Valley

A valley in the upper reaches of the Iwano River, a tributary of the Kikuchi River, where you can meet beautiful nature, such as the Kanehara Falls with a lively splash of water, and the crystal clear clear stream and birdsong. In the summer, the autumn leaves, as well as a campground (with a lodge), you can enjoy it all year round.

Kikuchi Valley

One of the best scenic spots in Kyushu, where the underground water that sprung up from Mt. Souta in Aso flows as a stream, and the natural forest created a varied landscape.
