Takeo ware with a history of 400 years. It is said to be the beginning of the construction of a kiln by a potter, Soden Fukami, who came from the Korean Peninsula in the role of Gyeongsang, together with his clan in what is now Uchida, Tōgawa-cho, Takeo City. The Koyamaji kiln, which belongs to the southern Takeo system, flourished as a royal kiln of the late Momoyama Takeo clan, and during the leadership of Shigenori Furuta, it fired many fine items of picture Karatsu common to Shino, which can be said to be a Tokyo style, and to the webe ware. At present, as a new expressive technique on top of that tradition, along with unique works by Washi-paper dyeing, you can also see the hollowed-out pottery made by solidifying the ceramic soil and hollowing it out.
