Chiryu Shrine

The old shrine, which was also called Ike-koi-daimyojin. It is reported that Nihon Taketoshi [Yamatotake Mikoto] enshrined the Imperial God during the Eastern Conquest, and he gathers his faith as a god of manumushi, rain begging, and safe-living. The precinct retains many valuable treasures, such as the Tahoto (National Shigeki Cultural Property), which was built during the Muromachi period, as well as the dance mask, the Noh mask, and the letter of proposition of Tokugawa Ieyasu. At the Chirate Festival on May 2 and 3, every year, the main festival, which stages floats karakuri, etc., and the sama festival, where flower carts are reeled, are held alternately every other year (UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage).
