Introduction to the Main Cargo Handling Facilities at Tsuruga Port
Tsuruga Port is divided into four areas: the Mariyama North District and Mariyama South District in the “New Port,” and the Kanegasaki District and the Kawasaki・Shoei District in the “Main Port.” However, the main logistics functions are concentrated in the Mariyama area of the “New Port.”
In the Maruyama North area, the handling of ferry cargo and bulk is the main focus, and two multipurpose cranes have been installed. One of these was installed in November of the 7th year of Reiwa, and after conducting operational checks, it began service in April of the 8th year of Reiwa.
In the Mariyama South District, unit load cargo such as containers and chassis is handled. Within the container terminal, one gantry crane and two rubber-tired gantry cranes are installed, enabling efficient cargo handling. In addition, one more gantry crane is scheduled to be added during fiscal year 2026 (Reiwa 8), establishing a two-crane system and strengthening the cargo handling structure.
In addition, the adjacent area is equipped with a CFS (Container Freight Station) for container stuffing and destuffing. Furthermore, a new privately operated warehouse was completed in December 2024 (Reiwa 6), enhancing the port’s warehousing capabilities.
