The temple, which enjoys widespread faith as the "Protected Bodhisattva of the Sea"; also famous for its garden of Karesansui by Sesshu; the Pu Hyun Festival every May, and the Antique City on the fourth Sunday of every month (Pugen-ji Kōjichi) are popular.

The site, which is located on the hill of Kanzan General Park and boasts the largest size in the prefecture, is attractive. From the observation terrace of the administration building, you can see not only the inside of the park, but also far to the Kyushu National Peninsula, and the view is excellent. Cooking equipment can be rented all year round (closed during the year-end holidays).

The entire beach is enveloped by the Seto Inland Sea National Park, and a beautiful swimming beach followed by a gently arcing white-sand blue pine coast for about 4.7km. It was very crowded with camping and bathers during the period, and marine sports such as yachting and board sailing were also flourishing. There are many leisure facilities nearby, such as a yacht harbor, a fishing park, and a sports exchange village. It has also been selected for the "100 Japanese Shirasuna Aomatsu" and "100 Pleasure Bathers". The sea bathing period is from mid-July to mid-August, 10 to 17 o'clock.
