The main island

Island where pride of salt-saturated water army still breathes
In the old days, the Salt-Fugu Water Army, which gained its name throughout the country, was recognized by the powerful people of the time, including Oda Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and Tokugawa Ieyasu. The main island, which has flourished as the home of its sailors. With the development of the shipping industry, the craft of shipwrights has also increased, and the remnants are still alive throughout the island. It attracts many people as an island where a nostalgic and airy style such as the salt-fudging service and the Kasashima town, and a modern landscape with the Seto-Ohashi in front of you coexist.

National Selection Important Traditional Buildings Preservation District
Developed as a castle town of Kasajima Castle (now only the castle site), the area was a salt-saturated political and economic middle ground from the Middle Ages. It is not for a castle town that you can see a curved road or a T-junction so that you can respond to a raid from an enemy coming from the port. In 60, it was selected as an Important Traditional Buildings Preservation Area, due to the fact that traditional buildings from the end of Jiangzhang to the early Shōwa period remain as settlements.

Cow Island

Piece full island rich in water and greenery
Cushjima, which is rich in spring water, has small reservoirs here and there in the rice fields, and moors appear in winter. The base of the Maruo Gozemon, which made its name in the Edo period with Ofuna, and the bells of the Koraku-ji Temple, where Maruo prodded, have now remained. Ushijima is a mind-settling place where untouched nature remains and time has stopped, where you are immersed in such a feeling.
