City Overview
Hita City is located in the western part of Oita Prefecture, almost in the center of northern Kyushu adjacent to Fukuoka and Kumamoto prefectures, and is surrounded by beautiful mountains of Aso, Kuju Mountains and Hidehiko Mountains, the city limits are formed with the Hita Basin and lush forests and hills where the abundant water flowing from these mountain systems converge. The climate is characterized by a large difference in temperature due to the unique nature of the interior, and the amount of rain is large.

History
Since ancient times, it has flourished as a transportation hub connecting various parts of northern Kyushu, and developed as a political, economic, and cultural center of Kyushu, with the establishment of the Saikokusuji-gun in the Edo period as the district of the shogunate. The historic townscape and traditional culture of the time are still being passed down, and private schools such as "Hamyi-en" and "Mameda-cho", a town that coexisted with the cram school, have been recognized as an educational heritage group. The "Hikiyama event at Hita Gion" is listed on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Property.
