創建は6世紀、欽明天皇の代と伝えられる古社で、佐賀城の鎮守だった。現在の社殿は宝暦8年(1758)に鍋島宗教・重茂が造営したもの。室町時代に建てられた朱色の楼門と、慶長8年(1603)造の三の鳥居、それらを結ぶ慶長11年(1606)建造の石橋は、いずれも国の重要文化財。樹齢1400年以上と推定される大楠(県天然記念物)も見事だ。

About 200 kinds of paper are placed.

It is located on National Route 34, which crosses northern Kyushu, about 2km from the city center of JR Saga Station.
