その名の通り、廃校となった旧椎名小学校をリノベーションした水族館。椅子や机、世界地図の掲示など小学校の雰囲気を残しつつ、水族館として50種類1000匹以上の魚を飼育・展示している。25mの屋外プールと校舎内に設置した水槽にはシュモクザメやウミガメが泳ぎ、また地元の漁師が釣ったアジやサバ、ブリなどの魚を見ることができる。理科室では地元で水揚げされた巨大なミンククジラの標本を展示。

「イルカとふれあって心も身体も健康になろう！」をテーマに様々なイルカとのふれあいプログラムがある。小さな子どもから参加可能なエサやり体験(600円)から、トレーナー気分を味わえるトレーナー体験(2000円)、浅瀬でのふれあい体験(大人5000円、小人4500円)、一緒に泳ぐドルフィンスイム(大人9000円、小人7500円)の4つのプログラムがある。

県内で初めて、国の重要伝統的建造物群保存地区に選定。明治から昭和初期、備長炭の集積地として栄えた当時の建物が今も残る。みどころは、土佐漆喰の白壁に水切り瓦を施した、台風に強くて美しい住まい。一方、内陸側では、いしぐろとよばれる石垣塀が見られる。町中心部の吉良川まちなみ館でマップを入手しよう。

室津港を見下ろす小山に立つ四国霊場第25番札所。大同2年(807)弘法大師の開基と伝わり、125段の階段を登ると竜宮城を思わせる白壁に朱塗りの鐘楼門がある。本尊の楫取延命地蔵[かじとりえんめいじぞう]菩薩は弘法大師作といわれ、海上守護仏として信仰を集めている。

大同2年(807)弘法大師の創建と伝えられる古寺で、四国霊場第26番札所。広い境内に本堂、大師堂、護摩堂[ごまどう]などが立ち並び、遍路の姿が絶えない。本堂横に正倉院様式の霊宝殿(拝観は要予約)があり、平安時代末期の木造阿弥陀如来坐像、銅造観音菩薩立像[どうづくりかんのんぼさつりつぞう]、板彫真言八祖像[いたぼりしんごんはっそぞう]などの重要文化財を収蔵。

A hot spring facility that combines accommodation. The spring quality is a sodium-hydrogen carbonate and chloride spring, which is gentle on the skin. It is also effective for cuts, burns, and neuralgia. From the loose bathroom, you can see the mountains of the Yasuda River and Ma-ji.

It uses the station building of the former Forest Railway, which uses plenty of suiangase cedar; and also sells Yuzu products, as well as some local-picked vegetables.

The Torco Railway and the cable car, which once hauled out the cedars. In front of the community center Umaji, these have been restored for sightseeing and are gaining popularity. The Incline is a water-powered cable car. Slowly ascending and descending on a steep slope with a maximum slope of 34 degrees. The view from the top, which arrives in about 10 minutes, is unspectacular.

It is a comprehensive information facility at the entrance of Maji Village, where you can take questions and consultations with anything about the village, from special Yuzu to tourist information and road information. There are also many specialty products of the village, including Yuzu products and Hoyangse cedar crafts. You can also experience making bending wappa (reservation reception).

It is an ancient temple of the Shingon sect, which is considered to be the founding of the middle to late Heian period, and the Hondo Yakushido has been designated as a national important cultural property. It is said to be the style of the Muromachi period, and the elegant curves of the hipped roof are stunning. The statue of the wooden Fudomyo King and the statue of Bishamoten, which are enshrined in the temple, are also designated as Important Cultural Properties. There is a legend of the establishment of Hiroho Daishi Overnight.
