四国霊場第35番札所。本堂前に立つ高さ12mの薬師如来像の台座内で胎内くぐりを。真っ暗ななかを巡ると厄除けのご利益があるという。

It is about a 40-minute drive north from Cape Muroto on the eastern side of the Muroto Peninsula, and this is the Nonane Manju that is familiar in the Toyo-cho, where the combination of moist thin skin and tasteful Koshian is exquisite.

Morning market, run by a local women's group. Recommended is Kokeura sushi, a local dish made with yuzu vinegar with grilled mackerel meat. Local rice and grilled mackerel soup, refreshing sushi with 100% yuzu vinegar. 350 yen per pack.

A thalassotherapy facility where you can enjoy a variety of aqua exercises while watching the beautiful sea of Muroto. The pool uses warm deep ocean water. You can experience a menu that matches your physical condition, a hydraulic massage nozzle. In the restaurant, the menu full of seafood in Muroto is popular.

A walking path of about 2.6km, extending along the coast of Cape Muroto. Strange rocks and rocky reefs eroded by the rough waves of the Pacific Ocean rise, and you can enjoy a dynamic landscape. Near the entrance, there is a subtropical plant Ako tree (natural monument) with an air root that extends like an octopus's foot, and there are also historical sites related to the Daishi along the way, such as Shumizigahama and Gyosui Pond, where the Hiroho Daishi is said to have performed the ritual of the irrigation. In the surrounding area, you can enjoy the flowers of Hamayu in summer and Hama thistle in autumn.

With its completion in 1899, it is still in active service. The chalk lighthouse, which stands against the backdrop of the azure ocean, is a popular viewpoint. With a diameter of 2.6m, the lens is one of the largest in Japan, with a distance of 49km. Normally, it is only a tour of the exterior, but during the lighthouse festival (only night festivals such as light-up on Saturdays) held on Saturdays and Sundays around November 1, the interior will be open to public free of charge.

It is a water intake facility for the deep ocean water, and exhibits panels, video dioramas, and introduces the deep ocean water. You can touch the deep water, and also exhibit stray fish.

乱礁遊歩道の入口に立つ像。現在の安芸郡北川村に生まれた慎太郎は、陸援隊隊長として幕末に活躍した尊攘[そんじょう]の志士。慶応3年(1867)11月15日、海援隊隊長の坂本龍馬と共に、京都の近江屋で暗殺された。このとき慎太郎30歳。その目線は、遠く太平洋に注がれている。

大同2年(807)弘法大師の開基と伝わる古刹で、室戸岬頂上にある四国霊場第24番札所。俗に金剛頂寺を西寺と呼び、ここを東寺と呼ぶ。宝物殿には平安末期の作とされる仏像3体(重要文化財)と足利時代の作である3つ足丸盆1対(重要文化財)があるが、なかでも如意輪観音半跏像[にょいりんかんのんはんかぞう]は大理石でできた非常に珍しいもの。弘法大師自らが刻んだといわれる、ご本尊の虚空蔵菩薩[こくうぞうぼさつ]は秘仏。境内には空海の七不思議、鐘石[かねいし]と喰わずの芋がある。

室戸岬の亜熱帯性樹林および海岸植物群落は国の天然記念物。その主役は太い気根が特徴のアコウだ。岩を絞め殺すかのように、ギュッと絡みつく姿は圧巻。乱礁遊歩道沿いによく見られ、大木や群落がある。探検気分で散策してみよう。
