標高892mの翠波峰の山頂付近に広がる高原。春は菜の花、夏から秋にかけてはコスモスが咲き乱れる。コスモス展望台からは金砂湖[きんしゃこ]が、翠波峰からは瀬戸内海、四国山地も望める。

金砂湖上流の銅山川上流に約6kmに渡って続く景勝地。最大のみどころは、高さ60mを超える断崖がそそり立つ戻ケ獄[もどりがだけ]。岩の割れ目からアカマツやイワヒバが育ち、まるで1枚の絵のような景観だ。弘法大師も見ほれたと伝わる。

The mine theme park "Mintopia Dotako", which used the site of the former site of the Dizzi Copmine Mining Headquarters, was registered as a roadside station. The large site is dotted with industrial heritage sites such as the registered Tangible Cultural Property's Udashi Iron Bridge and the Nakao Tunnel, centered on the main building, which houses the day-trip hot spring facility "Dariko Onsen ~ Tenku no Yu ~" and the indoor children's play facility "Akagane Kids Park". 別子銅山にちなみ名がついた、別子飴を製造・販売。ミカン・抹茶・イチゴ・ココア・ピーナッツと、5種類の味がある。袋入り108円～、箱入り702円～。和・チーズケーキ216円も好評。予約すれば、試食や製造工程の見学(1週間前までに10名以上で要予約)もできる。

新鮮な玉子をたっぷり使ったスポンジ生地をシュー皮で包んだ、しっとりとした食感が特徴のタマゴロール1本960円が人気。

太鼓台をイメージした黄金色の生地に餡が入った銘菓かきくらべ1箱9個入り1566円が名物。

別子銅山の資料が充実した記念館。鉱山坑内を彷彿させる半地下構造で、展示物は歴史資料や採掘道具など約300点。屋外には、別子1号機関車などの車両が6車両展示されている。所要約45分。
