Before World War II, the site of "Kitamura", where regular vessels from Tokyo also entered the port. It is said that at that time there was this Kitamura in addition to the current center, Okimura. It was also close to East Port, which was a whaling base, and was home to more than 400 people, with offices, offices and offices, and a marine-product processing plant running through the houses. Now the site of Kitamura Elementary School, which was founded in 1887 (Meiji 20), and the stone jetty only slightly conveys the image of the past. Near the pier is a point of fishing and snorkeling, and if you go on the promenade leading west from here, you can get to the Osawa coast through the great jungle of Pothos. The pier site of the North Port ~ Osawa Coast is about a 40-minute walk each way.

He noted that the stone on Maojima was easy to process and resistant to heat, and popularized the method of its use to islanders. A stone mill made of loin stone is displayed in the front yard.
