Xavier Memorial Church Catholic Hirado

A church standing on a hill on the west side of the city of Hirado. Sharp roofs and crosses are desired from the city area, and the scenery that can be seen overlapped with temples such as Komyoji and Zizuyunji on the way to the church is one of Hirado's representative landscapes as "views of temples and churches". It was originally built as the "Catholic Hirado Church" in 1913, and was relocated and constructed at its current location in Showa 6(1931). It is a Gothic-style church of light green reinforced concrete with an asymmetrical structure with an octagonal tower only on the left. The Xavier Memorial Statue stands on the site, and "Lourdes", which mimics the fountain of Lourdes in France, is built. After reading the church manners at the entrance, tour with a feeling of prayer.

Catholic Church of the Cross

A chalky Catholic church located approximately in the center of Hirado Island and standing on a small hill overlooking the port of Sosashi. The current cathedral was completed in 1929. It is a large two-story basilica with a Romanesque style of reinforced concrete, designed by Tosuke Tetsukawa, known for its church architecture. Inside the chapel, white columns can be seen on a red carpet, as well as a floral ornament that is a feature of the design of Yosuke. The light and pipe organ that shines through the beautiful stained glass create a magnificent atmosphere in the hall.

The view of the Hirado Xavier Memorial Church and the Komei-ji Temple and Zuiyun-ji Temple intersected. It is one of the landscapes that gives you a sense of Japanese and Western culture, and is a great shooting spot.

Kawauchi Pass

It is a prairie with rolling hills and a wide panorama at an altitude of 260m. You can see Hirado Seto and Hirado Ohashi, Ikizuki-jima [Ikitsukijima], as well as Kuju-kushima and the distant Iki on a good day. It is also known as a landmark for azaleas that blooms from early to mid-May, and there are nearby nature trails and day campsites.

Holy Land and Settlement of Hirado (Nakae Nojima)

One of the constituent assets of the World Cultural Heritage "Hidden Christian Related Heritage of Nagasaki and the Amakusa Region". Located 2km offshore on the northwestern shore of Hirado, between Ikutsuki and Hirado, Nakaenoshima is an uninhabited island about 400m east-west, about 50m north-south, and about 35m in altitude. In the early years of the Prohibition, in Genwa 8 (1622), the execution of four Christians, including John (Juwan) Sakamon Sakamoto, who helped proselytize Father Camilo, who had been executed at Tahira by the Hirado Domain, and two years later his family was also executed on the island. Hiding Christians in the Hirado region called the island, a martyrdom, "Sanjuwan-sama", and the faces of the dead were also buried toward the island, and they took it as a holy place. "Saint-Juwan" is a Portuguese reading of John the Washing Saint, who baptized Christ. For baptism, exorcism of the house, and rehabilitation of the disease, holy water is a collection of water that exudes from the rocks of this island, and was obtained by performing the ritual of "water taking". There is no landing on the island, and the tour is recommended from the Cruz Hill Park on the island of Ikuzuki.

Mount Anman

Mount Aumandake is located on the eastern side of the Kasuga settlement and is the highest mountain in the Hirado region at an altitude of 536m. It is registered in the constituent assets as "Hirado's Holy Land and Settlement (Kasuga Settlement and Mount Anmandake)" of the World Cultural Heritage "Hidden Christian Related Heritage of the Nagasaki and Amakusa Regions". Since ancient times, it has been regarded as a sacred mountain of mountain Buddhism, and during the forbidden period, in the prayer word "Orasho of God", the hidden Christian religion, which was chanted as "Mount Anman" and "The wife of Mount Anman". There was also a mountain showing the multi-faith of the hidden Christian religion. The area is full of red-oak primeval forest, and the Shirayamahime Shrine, also known as the Hakusan Gongjō of Yōri (718), is located at the summit of the mountain. The surrounding area is dotted with stone shrines and stone pagodas called "Kirishitan Shrine", as well as the ruins of the Seizen-ji Temple, where the remains of the building's foundation stones and ponds. From the rocky area at the top, you can see Ikutsuki Island under your eyes. There are two mountain trails, one on the south side and one on the east side, and a parking lot and restrooms are installed on the south side. About 30 minutes walk to the summit. The eastern side is the route of the traditional approach to Hakusan Hijō Shrine, about an hour's walk from Ichinotorii of the trailhead.

Senririgahama

A remote shore where Shirahama continues for about 2km. Hama, famous as the birthplace of Cheng Cheng [Teiseikou], known as a model for Chikamatsu Monzaemon's "Kokusenya Gassen" [Kokusenyagasen]. It is said that the place of birth is located at the southern end of the sandy beach, where there is a stone called Child Birthstone.

Scissors hot spring Yujirou

A day-trip hot spring facility in the town of Hassami, known for its ceramic art village. You can enjoy a hydrogen carbonate spring with a thick skin and a highly concentrated artificial acid spring, which is said to encourage blood circulation, both in the area. There is also a break room that can be used for free.

Pottery Kiln
