The settlement of Kuroshima

One of the constituent assets of the World Cultural Heritage "Hidden Christian Related Heritage of Nagasaki and the Amakusa Region". Kuroshima is a fiefdom of the Hirado clan, and a large number of settlers were relocated from the outer waters of the Ikuzukijima and Omura clan during the late Edo period due to the policy of reclaiming the field. Of the seven new settlements, six villages, including days and Neya, were hidden Christian settlements. Although painting was performed at Shoya Yashiki in the village of Honmura, they continued their faith by secretly offering prayers to the image of Maria Kannon while becoming the Danka of Kōzen-ji Temple. Two months after the discovery of the lay people in Nagasaki and Ōura Tenshudo, 20 people, including Yoshitao Deguchi, who has been the leader of the hidden Christians (Mizukata) from Kuroshima, visited Ōura Tenshudo and announced that there were 600 followers. After a number of persecutions, all Shimauchi followers returned to Catholicism in 1872. A number of Christian-related historical sites, including the Catholic Kuroshima Church, remain on the island today.

Kujūku Island Animal and Botanical Garden Mori Kirara

The westernmost point of the mainland, an animal and botanical garden in the West Sea National Park. In a garden blessed with a natural environment, 230 animals of 64 species are displayed, and 9000 plants of 1400 species are planted. Among them, in the rose garden, which boasts one of the largest areas in western Japan, you can enjoy the flowers of roses during the spring and autumn rose season. The country-designated natural monuments, the Tsima cat, as well as cheetahs and giraffes, are also on display. At the Penguin Hall, which has one of the largest (about 80 square meters) ceiling water tanks in Japan, you can observe the appeal of penguins from 360 degrees, such as a shallow water tank (about 5cm) where you can see the soles of penguins.

Kuju Island Aquarium Sea Kirara

A community-based aquarium that showcases the sea creatures of Kujukujima, located within the Parsea Resort. Including a large outdoor water tank with rare sunshine in Japan, such as a simple dolphins, a jellyfish confirmed around Kuju Island, a video, a healing music, and a fantastic production of the jellyfish with light, such as "Krage Symphony Dome", it introduces a full of charm to the living things that breathe on the Kuju Island.
