明治17年(1884)に建てられた宇和島警察を移築・復元した建物で、建物自体も見どころの一つ。明治初期の擬洋風建築が興味深い。玄関の上にはバルコニーがあり、モダンな佇まい。国の登録有形文化財に指定されている。館内では、宇和島出身の挿絵画家・高畠華宵[たかばたけかしょう]の作品を常時40点ほど展示。「華宵の部屋」では高畠華宵に関する展示を年1回行っている。隣接して、安政2年(1855)に宇和島藩が独自に設置した砲台跡の石組みが当時のまま残る。

伊達家ゆかりの資料を展示する博物館。掛軸や古文書、金蒔絵が施された化粧道具などの調度類、9代藩主夫人が輿入れの際に乗った女乗物[おんなのりもの]など、大名ならではの作品を見ることができる。豊臣秀吉の肖像画(国指定重要文化財)は期間限定で展示される。所要時間45分。

7代藩主宗紀[むねただ]が隠居所として慶応2年(1866)に整備した風雅な大名庭園。池泉回遊式庭園には珍しい庭石が配され、竹に雀の伊達家の家紋にちなんだ19種の竹、伊達家遠祖の藤原家ゆかりのフジなど、四季折々の美しさが堪能できる。池庭は国指定記念物(名勝)に指定されている。

宇和島の中心部の緑深い城山の頂にそびえる3重3層の天守は当時の姿を残しており、均整のとれた美しさから別名「鶴島城」とよばれている。慶長6年(1601)に藤堂高虎によって創建、寛文年間(1661～1673)に再建された。江戸時代の様式をとどめる国の重要文化財で現存12天守の一つ。所要60分。

リアス海岸の続く海に面し、四国百名山に数えられる1000m級の山々を背に、海抜80mの緑深い城山に白亜の天守がそびえる姿から鶴島城の別称を持つ優美な城。慶長6年(1601)に藤堂高虎が築城し、慶長20年(1615)以降伊達家9代の居城となった。10haの城山は国史跡、伊達家2代藩主宗利が建てた天守は現存12天守のひとつで国重要文化財に指定されている。450種の草木が繁茂する豊かな照葉の森も一見の価値あり。

この山は、大師四国の各地で御修行の砌、この地に立ち寄られ僻地故に都の文化の恩恵の影薄を憂い給い、四国八十八カ所霊場の開創を発願され、大同年間にその御願成就されたのを記念し、ここに堂宇を建立されたお寺と伝わる。京都大覚寺二品親王四国幸の砌、この山に御駐興遊ばれ、風光明媚と賞せられ臨開山福壽寺の号を賜る。元和元年(1615)初代藩主伊達秀宗公御入部の砌、この山を宇和島城(十万石)の鬼門の鎮として、藩と領民の安泰と繁栄を守護する伊達家祈願寺と定められる。これを享けて平成2年(1990)、山頂に白亜の除災招福大観音像中国より歓請し、万民の平和と利福を期し建立されている。一石彫りとしては西日本随一の大きさである。

The Bodaiji temple of the Date family, with a magnificent mountain gate; erected by the first Uwajima feudal lord Hidemune in Genwa 4 (1618) for his mother, Bodhi; the mossy grave of the precinct is lined with tombs of successive lords; and there is also the Longhuashan Garden of the Ikeizumi ceremony.

It enshrines the 12th Emperor Keiyuki's Prince of Japan, Miko-Kōkoku. He is a brother with Nihon Taketoshi, and is the god who pioneered and reigned in the Nanyo area, the father of Uwato. It has a history of more than 1200 years and is revered by the generations of lords as a sōjō god. Especially after the time of the Edo period, the Ida family was revered as the Ichinomiya of Ida 100,000-koku, and is still known by the nickname of "Ikusama". The only Yatsuka dance on Uwajima island in the Kamikotami on October 29, and the Gōso Maruho no Ushigori, the Sarutahiko of Carpentry Town and the Shishi Mai of Saeki Town mingle around the town.

A mountain valley at an altitude of 1000m class straddling the city of Uwajima and the town of Matsuno, followed by a mountain stream flowing through a white, granitic rock face for about 12km, followed by scenic spots such as Snow Ring Falls, Sendatashiki and Iteaobuji.

An isolated island in the Uwa Sea, also known as a mecca for rock fishing such as bream and gure, and single fishing. An offshore island in the northern part of the island is gregarious with Hamayu, which is designated as a natural monument in Ehime Prefecture.
