Iwamatsu Town

Iwamatsu was opened along the Iwamatsu River, which empties into Hokunan Bay. It flourished as a port on the Inland Sea route from the Edo period to the early Showa period. On the former boulevard, the remnants of the time, such as the Kurazuri merchant house, are now left behind. It was a town loved by writer Shishi Bunroku, and was the setting for his novel "Tenyawanya".
