Shigaraki Yaki Myoyama Kiln Ogama

Ogama, located at the top of Omogen Walking Road Rokurozaka, is a directly managed store of Shigaraki Yaki Omogen/Meizan Kiln [Meizangama]. We have been renovating and maintaining the kiln and the whole area since 2010 as a place to carry on the "pride of the area" to the future, making use of the climbing kiln that has finished its role. At the cafe, you can enjoy drinks and handmade cake sets (Ogama break set 691 yen, etc.) that change seasonally with Shigaraki ware. In the shop & gallery, you can also see and purchase the seasonal pottery, mainly in the Meishan kiln. You can also experience ceramic art classes in Atri.

Shigaraki ceramic village main kiln

In the year of Meiji 21 (1888), it was founded by Shomoto. You can experience a variety of pottery art, and you can enjoy the painting experience 880 yen ~ 1650 yen ~ and the plastered Tanuki figurine made with plaster type 2200 yen. A climbing kiln with a total length of 21m, consisting of 11 rooms, is also on public display.

Shigaraki Touen Tanuki Village

Tanuki Village, where the specialty of Shigaraki and raccoon dogs are held, is a complex where you can see from the exhibition and sale of Shigaraki ware to the ceramic art class, and finally, the raccoon figurine workshop. There is no doubt that the fulfillment is like a theme park. Enjoy a meal at the same-company Chatsumi-tei where you can enjoy Japanese cuisine using local Asamiya tea.

Zong Tao

It is one of the largest climbing kilns in Japan built during the Edo period, and continues to make Shigaraki ware in a way that is unchanged from the old days. I climb with firewood about twice a year and put fire in the kiln. You can also enjoy a wide range of items such as flower ware 1000 yen ~, and ceramic art experience such as hand-held 1650 yen ~ and electric experience 3850 yen ~. MIHO MUSEUM

A museum embraced by the gentle mountain range of Shigaraki. Impressive is the building assimilated with nature by the I.M. Pei design, known for its Louvre glass pyramid. The museum building will be reached by a tree-lined avenue of weeping cherry trees, a silver tunnel that reflects the light of one of the trees, and a suspension bridge that crosses a deep valley. Along the Silk Road, the collection consists of ancient art from Egypt, Greece, Rome, Persia, West Asia, China, and other countries, as well as Japanese art from Buddhism, tea ceremony, and about 250 items are always published. The opening period varies from year to year.

Ceramics Art Gallery

A gallery with works by ceramic artists who make using Shigaraki soil. I want to find my favorite from the works that line up with drinks and ware. A planned exhibition is held every month, and if you have a favorite work, you can buy it on the spot. 1000 yen ~.

Tani Hiroshi Kiln Gallery

A gallery and workshop utilizing the auditoriums of the Meiji period Normal School, and many fans of the third generation of Tani-Kan-kiln, Tani-Ihozan, who works hard to create works using glazes that he develops independently, such as using ash from whiskey barrels.

Dream Shop & Gallery

A wide variety of works by 50-60 ceramic artists are always arranged in a spacious gallery. The gallery, which is set up as a place for the presentation of the works of young ceramic artists, has a solo exhibition of writers held about every month. Drinking 1000 yen ~.

Shiga Prefectural Pottery Forest

In the town of Yakimono, a green park in Shigaraki, a cultural facility with a museum dedicated to ceramics, the Shigaraki Industrial Exhibition Hall, which displays and sells a wide range of industrial products from Shigaraki ware, and studios where artists from Japan and abroad stay in production. There are many outdoor exhibitions in the park, and you can experience "yakikono x art x nature". If you put on the lead, the inside of the park is a pet OK. Cafe restaurant with the theme of fermented food is also popular.

Gallery YASUO

安兵衛窯5代目・奥田安正さんと息子の安之さん・正道さんの親子3人の作品が並ぶギャラリー。安正さんが独自に開発した釉薬を使って作る作品は、個性的でモダンなうえ料理に映えることから料理人ご用達の窯元として料理店から注文も多い。
