A peninsula extending northwest of the city of Tsuruga to divide Wakasa Bay and Tsuruga Bay. Benten rock, called Tsuruga Nami, is also one of the places of interest because of its resemblance to Ise Nami because of the appearance of a couple rock connected by a continuous rope. In addition, there is a swimming beach with beautiful water on the Nishiura coast, and it is designated as Wakasa National Monument. Mizushima, which floats near the tip of the peninsula, has a high level of sea water transparency and a beautiful beach that is shallower with white sand. In summer, ferry boats come out from Irogahama and Urasoko. Perfect for the drive course.

Day-trip hot springs complete with luxury bardepur (swimsuits worn). There are two types of large baths: sodium-bicarbonate springs with different spring quality and alkaline simple hot springs, which can be bathed in mid-hot, high-hot baths. In addition, there are also such things as a sleeping bath and a dry sauna, and there are two types of outdoor baths: a rock bath-style tub and a cypress bath-style tub. There is also a Japanese-Western break room, a kids room, a body care room, etc., and the restaurant can enjoy dishes using fresh local ingredients.

福井銘菓羽二重餅や、敦賀銘菓豆らくがんなどの和洋菓子が揃う人気店。福井県産卵を使ったロールケーキのほか、ふぐパイ1個162円などのユニークな商品も好評だ。

土産物店、飲食店など60店舗が軒を連ねる日本海側最大級の海鮮市場。場内は威勢のいい売り子の声が響き、活気で満ちあふれている。海産物をはじめ銘菓・地酒など品揃えも豊富。飲食店では海鮮丼を中心に寿司や軽食、季節ごとの旬が提供されている。

敦賀湾に浮かぶ水島は透明度の高い水質が自慢の無人島。細長く伸びた白砂のビーチと青い海のコントラストは、まるで南国のプライベートビーチのよう。浅瀬で泳いでもたくさんの魚に出あうことができ、家族連れや若者たちにも人気がある。シーズン中は渡し船が運航(7月中旬～8月下旬予定、9～16時の間随時)している。※更衣室・シャワーは色ケ浜駐車場にあり。

日本三大松原の一つ、気比の松原にある海水浴場。松の緑に彩られた白い砂浜は「日本の白砂青松100選」に選定されている。敦賀湾に面した波穏やかな海で、子ども向けの海上遊具もあり、家族連れにおすすめ。

海や山、川などを敦賀の自然をフィールドに「炭焼き体験」「さばき方体験」(詳細は要問合せ)など、さまざまな体験をすることができるイベント。歴史・文化を学ぶプログラムも用意。

敦賀市の杉津にある北陸自動車道のパーキングエリア。今庄ICと敦賀ICの中間に位置している。この間の北陸自動車道はトンネルが多い区間で、ドライブ疲れのひと休みにピッタリの休憩ポイント。アツアツの鉄板で登場する各種定食が評判で、フードコートの人気No.1メニューは「豚もやし生姜焼き定食」。豚肉と野菜がたっぷりで、ジュージューと焼ける音が食欲をそそる。福井名物のそばとソースカツ丼のセットもおすすめ。一般道からPAの施設を利用できる出入口をもつ「ぷらっとパーク」(7～21時)が併設されている。

北陸自動車道の敦賀ICと今庄ICの間に位置するパーキングエリア。この間はトンネルが連続する区間で、PAの先には長い敦賀トンネルが控えている。ここでひと息入れておくのがおすすめ。「恋人の聖地」にも認定される、敦賀湾の絶景を望むビューポイントとして名高い「ゆうひのアトリエ」展望台がある。麺にこだわった「越前冷やしおろしそば」や、福井ならではの「ソースカツ丼」(ロースカツ3枚)、ロースカツ5枚使用した「特盛ソースカツ丼」は食べ応え十分。
