Monument to the origin of the Japan-West-Sumikuni traffic (Mexico Monument)

In Gyeongsang 14 (1609), the sailing ship San Francisco carrying the Governor-General of the Spanish Philippines was in distress off Iwawada on his way to Mexico. The rescue of the villagers helped 317 of the 373 occupants. With this as a machine, exchanges with Spain and Mexico began, and this monument was built in 1928 as a token of its friendship. The 17-meter-high tower that rises toward the heavens has become a symbol of the town. In addition, from the high park where the tower stands, you can overlook the town of Onjuku and the coastline.
