Road Station Aurora Town 93 Rikubetsu

A roadside station along Route 242, which runs north-south through the city of Mutsu. Formerly as a "road and railway station", it had the role of both the railway station of the former Furusa and Galactic lines, and the railway station of the road. Railway cars and tracks have been preserved even after the abandoned line, and it is now familiar as a roadside station where you can experience driving the railway. In addition to the goods museum, which sells specialty products such as venison products and wild plants, there is also a materials house for Kansai Seki, a pioneer. Accommodation is also provided on the second floor.

Rikubetsu Space and Earth Science Museum (Galactic Forest Observatory)

A public observatory with a reflecting telescope of 115cm, the largest in Japan. You can learn the experience of space by a space exploration computer or a large monitor. The mechanics of the aurora and the beautiful panels of the universe are also on display. There is also a rooftop square on the second floor where you can view the starry sky, and a large telescope starry sky viewing session is also held.

Onneto hot water waterfall

I just walked on a forest road about 1.5km from the entrance to the Onneto Waterfall where the Onneto encampment is located. Two-way hot water waterfall flowing on a rock surface of about 50m high. Under the influence of manganese ore, the rock surface is covered with a black color. It is noted as a place where a valuable manganese oxide production phenomenon can be seen on the ground in the world, and is designated as a national natural monument.

On Neto

A mysterious lake 2.5km around the mountain at the foot of Mt. "Onneto" is the Ainu word for "old swamp" and "big swamp". It is a weir lake formed by the eruption of Mount Meakan and the river has been stopped by lava, with a maximum depth of about 10m. The appearance that the color of the lake surface changes every moment depending on the season and time attracts many people. As you travel about 1.4km along the lakeside walking path from the on-netaw south parking lot, you can also see the Yutu Falls, which has been designated as a natural monument in the country as a rare producer of manganese oxide.

Road Station Ashoro Galaxy Hall 21

The roadside station is located at the intersection of national highways connecting the Kushiro area and the Tokatsu area, and is used as a tourist base for the Tokatsu area. Because it was built on the site of the abandoned line of the Furusato Galactic Line "Ashoro Station", the feature of the railway remains in and around the hall. At "Shop & Bakery Ashoro", a specialty shop with a focus on Rawanbuki products and cheeses and dairy products, as well as a bakery selling freshly baked bread, among other items, is set up. "Rawanbuki Soft" topped with Rawanbuki sauce is a recommended dish for its surprising combination. There is also a gallery that displays the stage costumes of Chiharu Matsuyama, a singer from Ashoro, and the history of his release works.

Ashoro Fossil Museum

In the middle of Higashi-Hokkaido, a museum with a special display that expresses the "evolution of sea mammals" with the skeletons of related fossils and living animals, centered on fossils of primitive desmostilids and cetaceans found from Ashoro-cho. The skeleton of a large whale is impressive. In the fossil workshop, "mini excavation" where you can experience excavating fossils and minerals of the world by yourself is popular.

Road Station Stella★The best

A roadside station on the site of the former Osiura and Galactic Line's Hōtō Station. The facilities, designed with the Big Dipper on the roof toplights, include a simplified post office and a tourist information office, a goods sales corner, a multi-purpose hall and a restaurant, and are active as a regional base facility. The straddling bridges and tracks of the former Hondo station also remain in the vicinity. In the goods sales corner, there is a large selection of bean products unique to "bean town books", and the "Kirei bean" series, which is made by locally processed black beans "kokuro soybeans", which are a specialty of bookmaking, is well received. The bread workshop sells bean bread and bread with the local character "Genki-kun". The restaurant is full of gourmet food with a focus on Chinese cuisine.

Park by book

From spring to autumn, the park is crowded with many people such as nature walks, camping and cottage accommodation. In the vast grassy square, you can enjoy a variety of athletics, such as roller slides, suspension bridges, and "sky ropes" that glide on ropes with pulleys. In addition to playing soccer and catching ball, there is also a lawn square and there are various ways to enjoy. There is also a square for young children in the park, and you can enjoy a "tunnel slide" that allows you to slide down with peace of mind on a gentle slope, as well as large play equipment that combines ropes and ladders. The square with a sense of liberation is popular when not only children but also adults can feel comfortable.

Happy Nesdory

Stand among the green spreading ranch. Home-grown milk and seasonal fruits such as melons and lotus cups, as well as a smooth mouthfeel gelato of 380 yen made with vegetables, are well received. Out of all 200 variations, 12 species are available on weekdays and 24 on weekends from April to October.

House of Ten-Kon Makiba

On the vast grounds spread over a small hill, there are restaurants and cottages in the main building, so you can enjoy the time to eat and relax. The charm is that you can taste the grazed sheep and the select materials of Jukō while looking out at the Jukkō Plain and the Hidaka Mountains. A sheepdog show held by the adjacent sheep ranch "Boya Farm" is also popular.
