Unzen City Kunimi Jindai Koji History and Culture Park Nabeshima Residence

The Jindai-koji district of Unsen city is a district with a sense of history that has been selected as a national important traditional buildings preservation district, with the samurai residences and stone fences and hedges remaining a remnant of the time of the former Saga clan. The center of this is the Nabeshima residence of the former Saga clan, Jindai lord, Nabeshima. The five buildings, including the late-Edo retreat building called "Oboku", and the late-Edo Nagaya Gate, the late-Meiji Tozo, and the main building of the early-Showa era modern Japanese-style architecture, are designated by the National Important Cultural Property. Around February, large trees of the garden's heiganzakura flower to add color to the buildings of the Edo, Meiji and Showa eras.

Chizoku Observation Deck

A large observation deck attached to the Chizoku Tourism Center. You can see the cove of Tachibana Bay and the Chizoku coast below your eyes, and the far-off Unzen Fukendake on your left, and you can enjoy the view slowly because there are many benches. At the tourist center, the specialty takeout gourmet, Jaga-chan, 250 yen for 1 skewer, is popular.

Tachibana Shrine

It was founded in 1940 (Showa 15) and is a shrine dedicated to the Meiji period Army Lieutenant Colonel Shuta Tachibana, including a statue of Lieutenant Colonel Tachibana, the Gunjin Bridge, and the Betokukan Tachibana. It boasts the second largest worshipers in Nagasaki Prefecture after Suwa Shrine, and a large number of worshipers from outside Nagasaki Prefecture are set up during the year-end and New Year holidays with a height of over 10m. There are about 800 Yoshino cherry trees and the cherry blossom season is also busy. In addition, if you climb the site of Kamago Castle behind the shrine, you can overlook Chizuishi-cho. "Okan Misogi" (January 20, Okan Day), Spring/Autumn Festival (April 2, September 16), and Death Day Festival (August 31) are also held.

Suwa's Pond

An artificial pond located within the designated area of Unzen-Amakusa National Park on the Shimabara Peninsula. It has been selected as "Hyakuseke" by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and is also one of the components of the Shimabara Peninsula World Geopark. The Kuboji was born by the "Suwa no Ike Basalt", which spewed out about 600,000 years ago, when the "Suwa no Ike Fault", which runs around the pond, broke apart. The pond of Suwa was built in the middle Edo period using it. It consists of three ponds, the upper pond, the middle pond, and the new pond, and a 1 km-lap nature trail is also maintained along the lakefront. The Unzen Suwa's Pond Visitor Center, which is equipped with a large refracting telescope near Nakaike, offers exhibits on the entire natural environment and a variety of experience programs.

Futsu Welfare Center, Minami-Shimahara City

A public day-trip hot spring facility located in Fuzu-cho, Minami-Shimabara. Excavation of hot springs started in 2003, and there is a large bathhouse completed later. Harashiro Hot Spring Masago

In July 2018, a hot spring spring near the site of the original castle, which was listed as a World Cultural Heritage Site, as "Hidden Christian-related Heritage in Nagasaki and the Amakusa Region". The bathhouse is a large glass ocean view facing the Ariake Sea and is one of the largest in Nagasaki Prefecture. There is a circular jacuzzi, sauna, and hot water. You can breathe in the break room of 80 tatami mats. You can also stay.

South Island Dolphin Watching

Dolphin watching cruises set sail from Kuchinotsu Port, located at the southern tip of the Shimabara Peninsula in Nagasaki Prefecture. About 200 dolphins live in the Hayasaki Strait to and from the island of Amakusa Shimoshima in Kumamoto Prefecture. Go to see the wild dolphins swimming in the sea on board the ship and enjoy an emotional experience with the whole family. Due to the large number and settlement of dolphins, they can meet all year round with a high probability, regardless of the season. Matsuo Tourism Garden
