新見市産の米を自社製粉工場で米粉にしているという珍しい道の駅。「焼きたて米粉パンの店こめ工房」では地場産の米粉と地場産の卵を使った多彩なパンが楽しめる。また体験工房では米粉ピザ手作り体験も可能。また、食事処「山野彩館」では地元の旬の野菜や食材を使用した郷土料理が豊富に揃い、新見市のブランド牛「千屋牛」を使った焼肉定食や牛丼なども味わえる。道の駅の近くには200種以上の貴重な植物が自生している「鯉が窪湿原」があるので、駅で休憩してから見学するのがおすすめ。

Bengala is a red pigment that was used for ceramics and architecture until the Taishō period, since it was first produced in Fukiya in the middle of the Edo period in Japan. You can tour the production process of Fukiya Bengala at the Museum of Materials, which is a restored Bengala factory from the Meiji period. In the adjacent ceramic theater, you can also experience painting of pottery using bengala (price from 1000 yen, April to November, Tuesday from 10 to 18 o'clock). A local hall located in Fukiya Furusato Village, which has become a preservation area for important traditional buildings in the country. It uses a representative residence of a Fukiya merchant built in 1879 (Meiji 12). It is a two-story wife-in-house with a wife. The museum displays historical materials of life at the time.

In the first year of Benggala (1751), the residential house that also served as the government office of the Xijiang family, who had opened up the Motoyama mine, the cornerstone of high-quality benggala, and carried out the mass production of Loha and benggala, the raw material for benggala, was founded in 1705. 近代化遺産に指定されている吉岡(吹屋)銅山の坑道の一つ。戦国時代から銅山として知られ、昭和47年(1972)まで黄銅鉱と磁硫鉄鉱を産出した。約320mにわたって坑道が復元され、江戸時代の手掘りの跡が残る内部を見学できる。

昭和46年(1971)までベンガラ製造を続けた片山家(胡屋)の屋敷。銘木をふんだんに用いた座敷や、通り土間に面した店の間、台所などがある2階建ての母屋と、ベンガラ製造の作業場や蔵が、国の重要文化財に指定されている。

成羽町の中心から北へ約15kmにあり、国の重要伝統的建造物群保存地区に選定されている。江戸時代から明治にかけて銅とベンガラで栄えた町。メインストリートにあたる吹屋街道沿いには、ベンガラ格子と赤銅色の石州瓦が印象的な商家・町屋が約400mにわたって軒を連ねており、周辺には銅山坑道跡などもありみどころが多い。
